Explainer session set for Friday in Shelby County

By The Staff

Despite the shutdown of the federal government, the Affordable Care Act arrived Tuesday to provide everyone in Kentucky and across America access to health insurance coverage.

The system at Kynect.gov was overwhelmed for a while and actually succumbed to the load of people signing on to process their applications for the coverage, which would go into effect on Jan. 1.

Residents who don’t have health insurance have until next March to complete the process, but they must to sign up by Dec. 15 if they want coverage to begin on schedule.
