BOWLING GREEN -- The Lady Rockets will have to wait one more day before taking the course at the KHSAA Girls Golf Tournament.

The KHSAA has postponed the first round of the 36-hole tournament until Saturday morning because of heavy rains that saturated Bowling Green Country Club's course.

No one played a single hole as rains began early Friday morning.

Players and coaches seemed to be glad not to have the day dragged out, said Butch Cope, KHSAA's assistant commissioner.

All golfers will tee of Saturday at 7 a.m. in shotgun format. Most holes will have two groups of four, and a couple holes will have three groups.

After this 18 holes, the field will be cut to the top 11 teams and top 20 individuals, not including players already making the cut with their teams.

The second 18 would begin with tee times in the afternoon, with most groups likely finishing on Sunday morning.

The Lady Rockets will begin Saturday on holes seven, eight and nine.
