EARLIER: Balanced attack lifts Lady Rockets over Owen

-A A +A
By Laura Clark

Owen County's last-second shot to force overtime was off the mark, and Shelby County came away with a dramatic, 41-39 victory Monday in the first round game of the Max Performance Lady Rockets Invitational.

With 17.6 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, and Shelby leading, 37-33, Lady Rebel Hannah Neeley hit a 3-point shot to trim Shelby's lead to one.

But Shelby's Aaliyah Wells threw a long inbounds pass to Marissa Raisor, who made the layup and was fouled. Raisor hit the foul shot to complete her three-point play and extend the Lady Rockets' lead back to four.
