The Collins Spanish department celebrated Dia de los muertos, or Day of the Dead, on Nov. 2, a day when Hispanics traditionally remember their loved ones who have passed on. Awards were given to the best displays in each category. Spanish 1 and Spanish 3 students made ofrendas, or offerings, in honor of a deceased loved one or celebrity. The first place ofrenda was built by (in photo from left) Spanish 3 students Anselmo Roldán, Ana Bautista, Kimberly Pedroza and Jaime Hermandez, in honor of grandfather.
