Two Shelby County students won the Isaac Shelby Chapter's Daughters of the American Revolution scholarship essay contest entitled "Our American Heritage and Our Responsibility for Preserving It." The winners were Katelyn Renee McNew, a student at Shelby County High School, and Lindsay Jo Trip, a student at Collins High School. Both will receive $100 savings bond at awards night at the respective high schools. Katelyn and Lindsay were invited to the annual DAR Valentine Tea/meeting, where they read their essays to the chapter's members.
