Volunteer with Horses

Metzger's Equine Fair

The Equine Fair is 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at the store in Simpsonville. There will be several activities for children, music, food, and other vendors.

Run/Walk event

Graefenburg Baptist Church 5K Run/Walk is 8 a.m. Saturday, June 14.

All participants will receive a t-shirt and breakfast. Awards will be given to the top 3 overall male and female runners as well as to the top 3 male and female participants in each age group. Pre-registration is $15; race day registration is $20. The deadline to pre-register is June 7. Lifebridge fund-raisers

A vintage and Classic Motorcycle show and pet adoption fair is 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at Shelby County Fairgrounds. Trophies will be awarded. Adults, $5; children, free. Farmer's market

Shelby County Farmer's Market is open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at Shelby County Fairgrounds. Membership is open to producers from Shelby County and adjacent counties to sell produce and products made in these counties. Deadline for membership is June 15. Book club

The Shelby County Public Library will re-open Tuesday, May 27. The bookmobile is continuing to run during construction.

Republican meeting

Multi-Purpose service

The Multi-Purpose Community Action agency provides home-delivered meals to senior citizens free of charge. An intake form may be completed over the phone. For information, contact Wanda, 633-2218.

Tumble Time

The Family Activity Center of Clear Creek Park is offering Tumble Time for children. Cathy Wilhoit, certified fitness instructor, will lead the classes. There are classes for 2-3 year olds, 4-5 year olds, and 6-8 year olds. Call the FAC office for more information, 633-5059.

Family Activity Center

Open play Pickle Ball is 9-11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Shelby County Family Activity Center (FAC). The cost is the daily admission. Line dancing is Friday nights. There is an additional charge. Call the FAC, 633-5059 for information.

Youth Ranch

Stormhaven Youth Ranch in Shelbyville is having their kickoff fundraiser on May 24. The address is 504 Christianburg Rd. Games for children and their families are 2-5 p.m. The fundraising dinner is 6-7 p.m. Adults, $40 donation. Children eat free. Cycling group

Shelby County Cyclists is in its first year of activity and offers rides for all levels of cyclists and will offer instructional rides in the future. Rides are frequently posted on a group email.

NAACP tour

ALC Pregnancy Resource Center

The center offers free pregnancy testing, confidential peer counseling, and information on all choices in an unplanned pregnancy, baby and maternity clothing and equipment, parenting and cooking classes and referrals to local resources. All our services are free and open to anyone. Center hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays, 2-6 p.m. Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays. No appointment is necessary. Volunteer opportunity

To volunteer at animal adoption centers, Humane Society or Shelby County Animal Shelter, call 633-4033. New Humane Society hours of operation are Monday, 1-5 p.m.; Tuesday, clinic day (low-cost spay/neuter) by appointment; Wednesday, 1-5 p.m.; Thursday, 1-5 p.m.; Friday, 1-5 p.m.; and by appointment. Spay/neuter assistance

LifeBridge for Animals will provide spay and neuters for all pets adopted from the Shelby County Animal Shelter when the voucher received at the adoption is redeemed through a participating LifeBridge veterinarian. Call 633-4959 for information.
