Dulcimer news

The third in a series of beginning lap dulcimer workshops will be 10 a.m. until noon Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Shelby County Public Library. Marian Maxwell will be teaching. Non-denominational

The Prayer Connection, a non-denominational study, will meet 9:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Stratton Center.

Tumble Time

The Family Activity Center of Clear Creek Park is offering Tumble Time for children. Cathy Wilhoit, certified fitness instructor, will lead the classes. There are classes for 2-3 year olds, 4-5 year olds, and 6-8 year olds. Call the FAC office for more information, 633-5059.

Humane Society fundraiser

The Shelby County Humane Society is having a pancake breakfast at Applebee's in La Grange 8-10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12. Tickets for the all-you-can-eat fundraiser are $5. Tickets can be purchased at the Shelby County Humane Society located, 40 N 7th Street or call 633-4033.

MOPS meeting

Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) will be meeting next week at Shelby Christian Church. The evening meeting will be 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7. The morning meeting will be 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8. MOPS is a non-denominational group open to all mothers of children ages birth to kindergarten. Childcare is provided. A Loving Choice Pregnancy Center

The center offers free pregnancy testing, confidential peer counseling, and information on all choices in an unplanned pregnancy, baby and maternity clothing and equipment, parenting and cooking classes and referrals to local resources. All our services are free and open to anyone. Center hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays, 2-6 p.m. Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays. No appointment is necessary. Cornhole tournament

The Shelbyville/Shelby County Parks and Recreation is sponsoring a cornhole tournament 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, in the Family Activity Center gymnasium.

Donations requested

Sunny Patch Farm, which houses the horses for the Whitney M. Young Job Corps Equine Training Program, is requesting the donation of hay for its horses. New or gently used items are also requested for an auction fundraiser. For information, contact Sharon Cook, (502) 417-3129.

Volunteer opportunity

To volunteer at animal adoption centers, Humane Society or Shelby County Animal Shelter, call 633-4033. New Humane Society hours of operation are Monday, 1-5 p.m.; Tuesday, clinic day (low-cost spay/neuter) by appointment; Wednesday, 1-5 p.m.; Thursday, 1-5 p.m.; Friday, 1-5 p.m.; and by appointment. The Humane Society is at 40 N. Seventh Street, 633-4033.

Rocko's Rookies

Clear Creek Family Activity Center is having sign-ups for upcoming Rocko's Rookies classes. Beginning day for basketball is Jan. 8; soccer, Feb. 26. The $35 cost includes a T-shirt. Contact the center in person or call 633-5059.

Family Activity Center

Open play Pickle Ball is 9-11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Shelby County Family Activity Center. The cost is the daily admission. Line dancing is Friday nights. There is an additional charge. Call the FAC, 633-5059 for information.
