Collins boys' soccer, Shelby County volleyball win 8th Region openers

The Collins boys' soccer team and the Shelby County volleyball squad each won its respective first-round match in the 8th Region Tournament on Monday night.

The Titans topped visiting Owen County 4-0, while the host Rockets swept Henry County at Mike Casey Gymnasium.

Fifth-ranked Collins (17-1-2) will play host South Oldham (12-8-2) at 6 p.m. Tuesday night in the region semifinals. The final will be at 8 p.m. Thursday night at South Oldham.

Meanwhile Shelby County (19-6) will host reigning region champ, and 15th-ranked, North Oldham (26-10) at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night in the region semifinals. The final will be played at 6:30 p.m. Thursday night.

Tuesday

6:30 p.m. - Carroll County (18-12) vs. Anderson County (19-16); 7:30 p.m. - Simon Kenton (25-12) vs. South Oldham (22-13).

Wednesday

6:30 p.m. - North Oldham (26-10 vs. Shelby County (19-6); 7:30 p.m. - teams TBD.

Thursday

Final, 6:30 p.m.
