LOUISVILLE – Dre Farris and Masai Whyte rushed for two touchdowns apiece and the Collins defense pitched a shutout in the second half as the Titans topped host Western 36-20 Friday night in the Class 4A, Region 2 championship game.
Collins (10-3) will host undefeated Warren East (13-0) next Friday night in the state semifinals. The Raiders beat Owensboro 14-7 in the Region 1 championship game.
Collins, who led the Warriors 21-20 at halftime, outgained Western 381-241 in total offense, including 177-99 in the second half.
Farris, a junior running back, finished with 15 carries for 107 yards (7.1 yards per rush) and second-half TDs of 9 and 3 yards. Meanwhile Whyte had six carries for 30 yards and a pair of first half 1-yard touchdown runs. Collins junior quarterback Lawson Page completed 11 of 24 passes for 127 yards and one touchdown (a 10-yard toss to Nathan Sames) and rushed 14 times for 70 yards (5 yard per carry).
