Collins’ boys tie Woodford in soccer

The Titans played Woodford to a 1-1 tie Thursday night in Versailles.
Their lone goal came on a penalty kick by senior Austin Lanham.
Collins (2-0-1) hosted Spencer County on Tuesday night.
SHELBY COUNTY 4, CARROLL COUNTY 0: The Rockets picked up their first victory of the season, beating the Panthers on Thursday night at the Shelby County Athletic Complex. Shelby County (1-3), which hosted Oldham County on Tuesday night, hosts Simon Kenton at 7:30 p.m. Thursday night.

BOYS’ GOLF: Collins, SCHS fall
Visiting Scott County bettered the Titans, 150-160, Thursday in a Central Kentucky Conference match at Shelbyville Country Club.
Billy Tom Sargent, Kentucky’s reigning Mr. Golf, earned medalist honors with 35.
Senior Michael Troutman topped the Titans with 38. Senior Michael Atkins added 39, senior Brandon Sanner 41 and Chandler White 42.
Two days later Collins, and the rest of the field, was washed out after playing seven holes in the Eagle Trace Invitational at Eagle Trace Golf Course in Morehead.
WOODFORD COUNTY 157, SHELBY COUNTY 174: The host Yellowjackets topped the Rockets Thursday at Woodford Hills Golf Course in Versailles. Junior Dakota Baatz led Shelby County with 40. Senior Isaac Martin carded 42, senior Jimmy Hulce 48 and junior Tanner Brandenburg 49.

GIRLS’ GOLF: SCHS 215, Henry County 228
The Rockets, resting their top players, won Thursday at Weissinger Hills Golf Course, behind by sophomore Tiffany Grasch and freshman Jennifer Fuqua, who shot 47s.
Two days later Shelby County only played a handful of holes before the Gene Hilen Invitational, which was played at Juniper Hill Golf Course in Frankfort, was ended because of heavy rains and lightning.
“We were playing well, though,” Rockets Coach Anna Simpson said. “If we had finished, I think we would have shot around 312.”
