Students in Jackie Pridemore’s class at Clear Creek Elementary became impromptu actors when she assigned each one a role in a play about Sybil Ludington, the 16-year-old female counterpart to Paul Revere. The children – reading their various characters – taught the class that she rode a horse 40 miles through Putnam and Dutchess Counties to warn the militia that British troops were burning Danbury, Conn. Students who participated included (from left) Maya Valenzuela, Taconna Cochran, Anthony Anderson, Alex Hamilton, Johnna Warkentine and Emma Lanter.
