Shelby County artist John Clayton won the Purchase Award for his painting at the Kentucky State Fair this year. The award is presented from the winners of blue ribbons oils, pastels, watercolors, portraits, abstracts and representational painting categories. His pastel was a winter landscape. Clayton also won that award in 2006. He has won the blue ribbon for Kentucky, sponsored by the National Veterans Administration for Combat Veterans. His pastel won second place nationally and was displayed in Washington, D.C. Clayton co-founded Shelby Artists on Main.
