Shelbyville City Council endorsed a proposed pipeline Thursday that would route Louisville Water Co. lines to Frankfort, via a Shelby County extension.
Tom Doyle, manager of the Shelbyville Water and Sewer Commission, said the pipe could provide local relief in times of drought and offer alternative water supplies to the region.
"The commission would like to see Louisville water reach Shelbyville," Doyle said. "We feel like this is a good plan to bring Louisville water through Shelby County and hopefully bring it to Frankfort."
