Pentecost is often celebrated as the birthday of the church. We will recognize the role of the Holy Spirit and our dependence on the movement of God's Spirit in the life of the Body of Christ. We will also collect the Pentecost offering Sunday. Congregations keep 40 percent of gifts for community programs that benefit children, youth and young adults. The Presbyterian Mission Agency divides the remaining 60 percent between ministries with youth and young adults (50 percent) and child advocacy (10 percent).
