Centenary United Methodist

The third Sunday of Lent will be celebrated with Holy Communion at both worship services. A Safe Sanctuary training class will be from 2 until 3:30 p.m. Sunday. This is a church policy for persons involved with children, youth and vulnerable adults that is required, and must be renewed every three years. The Redeemer tour “Big Daddy Weavewill be at 6:30 p.m. March 9 at Cornerstone Christian Academy. A group will meet at the church at 5 p.m. Make the $10 reservation by Sunday with Davey Ladner at Cornerstone Christian Academy. “Disciple Now” weekend will be March 22 to 24 in Bagdad. The registration deadline is Sunday, with a $20 fee. Registration brochures can be accessed through the youth section of the church’s Web site. The Easter Egg Hunt will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 30 at Finchville Park. Help is needed with the hunt. Consider donating individually wrapped candy that will fit into plastic eggs. And pray for this event to reach our community in an awesome way. The Easter cantata, Arise, My Love, by Bradley Knight, will be presented by the adult choir on Palm Sunday, March 24, during the 11 a.m. worship hour, followed by a potluck meal in Fellowship Hall. The church will furnish fried chicken and beverages. Bring a favorite dish and/or dessert and a friend. There will only be one morning service on March 24. Orders for Easter Lilies, in honor of or in memory of loved ones, will be take starting Sunday. The order forms will be in the bulletin. Place the forms and $11 per plant in the offering plate. The deadline for ordering will be March 17. A fish fry and silent auction will be from 5 to 8 p.m. March 23 in the Fellowship Hall as a fundraiser for the Guatemala Mission team. Silent auction donations from local area businesses, artists and offices are being accepted until March 17. Please contact the Crumbackers with your donations. The team will accept donations for cakes and pies to be auctioned. A yard sale will be from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 19 and 20 in the church parking lot on KY 55. All youth in grades 6-12 are invited to youth group on Sunday afternoons from 5 to 7 p.m. The youth will sponsor a chili cook-off from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday. The church is a collection site for Edge Outreach Shoes for Water. Donations of new, and used shoes to Edge Outreach create clean drinking water for people in need. Shoes of all types are acceptable – from flip-flops to high heels, from boots to football cleats. FCC is also collecting used hearing aid batteries, coupons – current or expired, cancelled postage stamps, pop tops from aluminum cans and current magazines for mission projects. The March community outreach project will be Shelby Touched Twice Clinic on April 13 at Shelbyville First Baptist Church. This is a free 1-day clinic for all of Shelby County, striving to meet medical, spiritual and physical needs of people who are not otherwise able to receive these services. Bring food pantry items Sunday, including peanut butter, canned meats and vegetables and fruit, along with any other non-perishable foods. Check for expiration dates on all items.
