Allen Chapel

The church is located on KY 55 in Finchville.


Summer festival and picnic from 4 to 9 p.m. Aug. 16-17 and include a spaghetti dinner, cake and ice cream and, the next day, fish dinner, hotdogs and hamburgers, authentic Mexican food, cake and ice cream. The Women On Mission will have its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Centenary United Methodist

Sunday has been designated as Vacation Bible School commencement day. Children will perform their musical talents and participate in their Bible studies they had during the week. First Christian

The church is a collection site for Edge Outreach Shoes for Water. Donations of new and used shoes to Edge Outreach create clean drinking water for people in need. Shoes of all types are acceptable – from flip-flops to high heels, from boots to football cleats. FCC is also collecting used hearing-aid batteries, box tops, Campbell’s labels, eyeglasses, plastic bags (Kroger, Walmart, etc.), coupons – current or expired, canceled postage stamps, pop tops from aluminum cans and current magazines for mission projects. Kroger gift cards may be purchased from the church. Each time a card is purchased or reloaded, the church earns 4 percent. Contact the church office for more information. First Presbyterian

Good Grief will meet for lunch following worship. Check with Barbara Troyer for the location. The Covenant Group is collecting old blankets and towels for the Animal Shelter. Used or new tennis balls are being collected for Heritage Elementary. Place all items in the designated container in the Assembly Room. The only Picnic in the Parking Lot this summer will be Friday. Note that all the food is being prepared, and the church needs donations to help pay for it. Folks are also needed to come out that evening and eat. Proceeds go to the pastor's discretionary fund, which helps folks both within and outside the faith community. A special musical performance will be at 3 p.m. Sunday. Lascito Coro (Legacy Choir) will perform in the sanctuary on Aug. 4. Donations will be accepted to benefit the Louisville Youth Choir's “No Song Unsung” scholarship initiative. A churchwide mission trip to Nashville is planned for Aug. 9-11. Plans are to work with Westminster Home Connection, an outreach of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Pastor Jay Hodge's home church. Grace Assembly of God

Sunday school for all ages starts at 9:30 a.m. Praise and worship starts at 10:30 a.m. Children’s church, as well as a nursery, is provided. The Wednesday evening Bible study is “Finding Your Spiritual Gifts.” There are also children’s activities. The church will give away school supplies to kindergarten through sixth-grade students from 4 to 6 p.m. on Aug. 4. The back-to-school giveaway will be followed by a free pizza party at 5:30 p.m., and the monthly performance of “Hosanna House” will be at 6 p.m. This is a children’s ministry that uses skits and songs to illustrate Biblical virtues.
