Centenary United Methodist
The sermon topic for the eighth Sunday after Pentecost is "The Name We Claim," delivered by the pastor. There will be a celebration for the Confirmation Class during both worship services on Sunday. Individuals volunteering for assisting with youth and children must participate in a Safe Sanctuary Class. The next class will be at 6:30 p.m. on July 18. A potluck dinner and rehearsal for the chancel choir will be at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. LACE, leadership academy, meets from 9 to 3 p.m. on July 20 at the Carrolton UMC. Finchville Baptist
The quarterly business meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday instead of the adult Bible study. Get fresh Krispy Kreme doughnuts from the church youth from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Shelbyville Walmart. Missionfuge – The Big Picture is coming. Youth camp will be July 15-19 at the University of the Cumberlands, Williamsburg. The annual Founder’s Day celebration will be July 31. Make plans to arrive at 5:30 p.m., and dinner will be served at 6. Bring favorite foods to accompany the pork that will be grilled and a dessert. There will be inflatables for the children to enjoy, and music. Bring your family and friends for an evening of food and fellowship. A chicken-lunch fundraiser will be after the 11 a.m. service on July 23. Donations are accepted, but we do ask for a minimum of $6. The Missions Committee is collecting individual-sized toiletries to give to A Loving Choice Pregnancy Resource Center. If traveling, save the shampoos, soaps, etc. and donate them to the mission team. Also if you have the cosmetic bags given with purchases from department stores, donate those as well. First Baptist Shelbyville
Rev. Bill George, retired from Highland Baptist Church, leads both the 8:30 and 11 a.m. service Sunday. Bible Fellowship is at 9:45 a.m. Violinists Emily Chatham Hansen and Mary Shannon McGillen, and pianist Dr. Betty Jean Chatham will serve as part of the 11 a.m. service music. Chatham Hansen is a long-standing player in the Charlotte (NC) Symphony and specializes in Baroque-era string performance. McGillen is the orchestra director at Collins High School and West Middle School. Dr. Chatham recently retired from full-time service at FBC as pianist following sixty years. "Not A Fan" continues on Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m. with Greg Jacobs, Billy Stover and Rev. Jerry Tracy. The Russian Ministry team of 17 intergenerational members returns next week from the Volgograd area (midway between St. Petersburg and Moscow). Acts 1 Ministry Teams are in the area. Young at Heart meets Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in the FBC building in the small dining area. The catered meal is $8. The speaker is to be announced. FCC is also collecting used hearing-aid batteries, box tops, Campbell’s labels, eyeglasses, plastic bags (Kroger, Walmart, etc.), coupons – current or expired, canceled postage stamps, pop tops from aluminum cans and current magazines for mission projects. First Presbyterian
Good Grief will meet for lunch following worship. Check with Barbara Troyer for the location. Sunday is Love Sunday. Contributions will be used to help the needy in Shelby County.
