Centenary United Methodist

Finchville Baptist

Scott Davis presents a night of family-friendly comedy and desserts at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Finchville Ruritan Club building. Take some of the invitation cards from the foyer and distribute them to your friends and families. Order your tickets to help plan for the actual number coming. The missions and Guatemala teams would like to have your treasures as you begin your spring cleaning. A yard sale will be held in April, so as you begin going through your closets and garages, remember to bring your items to church, and they will be stored until the sale. The collection begins Feb. 3 and will continue until April 19. The church is a collection site for Edge Outreach Shoes for Water. Donations of new, and used shoes to Edge Outreach create clean drinking water for people in need. Shoes of all types are acceptable – from flip-flops to high heels, from boots to football cleats. FCC is also collecting used hearing aid batteries, coupons – current or expired, cancelled postage stamps, pop tops from aluminum cans and current magazines for mission projects. Becky Jew will be present after worship on Jan. 27 to show how to make blankets for the Linus Project. This is an inter-generational activity for anyone to take part. Participants need to bring 1.5 to 2 yards each of a printed and a contrasting solid fleece fabric, quality fabric scissors, measuring tape or rotary cutter and cutting mat. The church family is reaching out to the community through several projects this year. Winter clothing day is Sunday. The church will fill the box with gently used coats, blankets, sweaters and anything warm. They will be given to two organizations that distribute warm clothes. The items collected will be delivered to the organizations the following week. Together we can make a difference.
