Centenary United Methodist

The Seeking Greatnessconference this Friday and Saturday will the focus on a series of sermons for Sundays during January. This Sunday the message will be “A Great Commandment: First Things First” from Mark 12:28-34. The United Methodist Women District Missions meeting will be at 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. This meeting is not open to the general public. The overflow class will be responsible for the set up and clean up for the catered meal Wednesday.

Cropper Baptist

A deacons’ meeting is at 5 p.m. Sunday, with a business meeting at 6 p.m. B.A.L.L. Group luncheon is Monday. Co-ed volleyball league play has resumed; schedule and game times are posted on the bulletin board. There will be no choir practice during the month of January. The church pantry needs donations of food items to assist families in need.The church is a registered Red Cross emergency relief shelter and is open to the community in times of need.

Finchville Baptist

Scott Davis presents a night of family-friendly comedy and desserts at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Finchville Ruritan Club building. Order your tickets to help plan for the actual number coming. First Christian

The church is a collection site for Edge Outreach Shoes for Water. Donations of new, and used shoes to Edge Outreach create clean drinking water for people in need. Shoes of all types are acceptable – from flip-flops to high heels, from boots to football cleats. FCC is also collecting used hearing aid batteries, coupons – current or expired, cancelled postage stamps, pop tops from aluminum cans and current magazines for mission projects. Kroger gift cards may be purchased from the church. Each time a card is purchased or reloaded, the church earns 4 percent. Contact the church office for more information. Women's Bible study group meets at 10 a.m. Wednesday; adult choir rehearsal is at 7:15 p.m. The Mitten Tree is ready to accept more donations of hats, mittens, scarves, socks, etc. These will be distributed to the schools all winter to be distributed to those in need.

Living Waters

The youth will meet in the Watershed on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. and will be studying the book Multiply by Francis Chan and Mark Beuving. The study is on making disciples. The church is invited by the Kentucky Prayer Focus to join in a 21-day fast that will end with a worship service in the sanctuary on the evening of Feb. 1. The church will collect non-perishable food items for Operation Care on Jan. 20, and bins will be located in the east hallway.

United Methodist Men's Breakfast is at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Methodist Women are invited Saturday. Following breakfast, all Christmas decorations and the Christmas tree will be taken down and stored until next year. Fill the box for the “Animal Shelter Sunday” whichwill be this Sunday.
