Baptist Men's Day is Feb. 27. Events will include breakfast 9-10 a.m., Sunday School 10-10:20 a.m., Worship service 10:30 a.m. The speaker is Chris Burke, former major-league player for the Houston Astros. Music will be provided by Blend from Energy IL. The church is preparing for a chili cook-off with the fire department at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Spring Singspiration at 6:30 p.m. on March 5. Reclaiming the Mission, for all leaders and team members of ministry and administrative teams is 9-11 a.m. Saturday. Mike Slaughter, pastor of the Ginghamsburg UMC, will be the speaker through video, presenting the message and mission of Jesus. "Sunbeams," children choir, presents a musical program at both services Sunday. Children's Ministry will also have a bake sale following both services. Confirmation class meets 4 p.m. on Sunday. Quilters meet 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday. Three new classes will begin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday - If you want to walk on water, you have to get out of the boat; The God of Jesus; Bloom, where you are planted. Materials will be available and the public is invited to participate. Membership Care meets 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. SOCK-IT-TO-ME, sock collection is active until Feb. 20.
The congregation of Centennial Baptist will be guest for the 11 a.m. worship hour Sunday. The visiting choir will give special music and the pastor, Don Burley, will bring the morning message. Choir rehearsal is 5 p.m. Sunday. Worship and youth meet at 6 p.m. The regularly scheduled business meeting will be held following evening worship. WMU will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The Marnel C. Moorman Sr. F.L.C. Benefit Concert, in observance of Black History Month, is 4 p.m. Feb. 27. Guest soloists are Sarah Cruz, Alozo Simpson and Farris Montgomery. Local performers include Shelby Congregational Church Brotherhood, Clay St. Baptist Church Brotherhood, poet Richard Dotson and Forgiven. Special guest will be The Spiritual Wonders. The Youth Department of Clay Street Baptist Church presents a Kentucky Chautauqua - a living history drama - that will bring to life the story of Dinnie Thompson: No Ordinary Woman. This free event will be held in honor of Black History Month at 4 p.m. on Feb. 20 at Clay Street Baptist Church.
The deacons will meet on Sunday, time to be announced; choir practice is 5:30 p.m.; business meeting is 6 p.m. B.A.L.L. Group luncheon is Monday. The church food pantry needs donations to restock canned meats, crackers, hot and cold cereals, pasta and baked beans. The pantry provides food items to families in the community who need help; contact the church if assistance is needed.
Father's Love, an urban ministry of Living Waters Church, will have a fundraiser lunch and dinner on Thursday. The cost of the meals is $6 for lunch and $7 for dinner, eat-in or carryout. Upward Basketball continues 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturdays. Young at Heart meets 11:30 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist in the small dining room. Touched Twice Ministry meets March 12. Senior Pastor Steve Rice is leading a Holy Land trip Nov. 10-19. A DVD presentation will be made regarding the Holy Land sites, and there will be a conference call with tour-company representatives. The CWF continues to collect prescription bottles (with the labels removed) and hearing aid batteries for recycling.
This Sunday is Love is Sunday. Donations of toiletry items, non-perishable food items, small stuffed animals and bedding as well as cash donations will be collected. The monthly potluck dinner is Wednesday beginning at 5:45 p.m., hosted by the Seekers Sunday school Class. This month's theme is "Mardi Gras" and will feature red beans and rice, gumbo and jambalaya along with lots of beads, masks, Cajun music and fun! Adult choir rehearsal will follow at 7:15 p.m. We will serve lunch at God's Kitchen 11:30 a.m.-noon on Thursday. Volunteers should arrive by 10:30 a.m. Have desserts to the church by 10 a.m. The Women's Evening Bible Study Group meets at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Dinner and childcare are provided. Boy Scouts meet 7 p.m. Thursday.
Upward movie is 6:30 p.m. Friday. We will have a brief meal and a movie for all Upward participates and their families. Men's breakfast is 8 a.m. Saturday. A chili-cook-off and get ready to play minute-to-win-it is 6 p.m. Sunday. AARP free tax help is offered Mondays and Thursdays during February, March and April. Manna Ministry meets 9-11 a.m. Saturday. This will be our last Manna Ministry giving out food. Make sure it is removed from paper, and please note in church news that it (Manna Ministry) is being cancelled after February.

The Night Baptist Women will meet at the home of Anna Louise Morris 7 p.m. today for their monthly meeting. The youth will have a community and church-wide Valentine spaghetti dinner 5-7 p.m. Saturday at the church. This is a fund-raiser for their mission trip this summer. Anyone wanting to attend contact John Raizor at 321-1599 for reservations. Salem will continue the bicentennial celebration on Sunday with former Minister of Music Jerry Chase. He was the first paid minister of music and was on staff during the early 1970s. A salad luncheon will follow. The Baptist Women will be having the monthly birthday party is 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Masonic home.
Simpsonville Christian Church youth will sponsor a spaghetti dinner Saturday beginning at 5 p.m. Serving will cease at 8 p.m. The cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children under 12. This is a fund-raising event for the youth. The elders and deacons meet Sunday following worship. There will be a board meeting following that event.

The Youth of Waddy Baptist Church will serve a spaghetti lunch for the church on Sunday after the morning service. This will be a fundraiser for youth camp. They will also attend Hosanna House at Graefenburg Baptist Church 6 p.m. on Sunday.
