Cropper Baptist

The annual “Gospel Music Extravaganza” is planned for 6 p.m. Sunday; tickets are $10 per person and are available from David Martin or at the door. There will be no choir practice during the month of January. The church pantry needs donations of food items to assist families in need. The church is a registered Red Cross emergency relief shelter and is open to the community in times of need.The  Lord’s Supper will be observed following morning worship on Jan. 6.

Finchville Baptist

The Java Shop is open to begin raising money for various mission activities. December’s sales will be donated to the Lottie Moon Mission Offering to support missionaries on foreign fields. Coffee time will be at 9:30-9:50 a.m. The Guatemala trip is quickly approaching. The approximate cost is $1,250. Departure will be July 1, and the return flight will be July 7. First Baptist Shelbyville

Rev. Keith Inman will speak Sunday for two services, at 8:30 and 11 a.m. Rev. Inman, now at Murray FBC, served as director of campus ministries for the Kentucky Baptist Convention for the past decade. He also was interim pastor at FBC Shelbyville in spring 2008. Bible studies are at 9:45 a.m. No YAH or Next Level this week. One service will be at 11 a.m. on Jan. 6, for service ministries emphasis and deacon ordination. First Christian

There will be a congregational meeting following the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday. Choir rehearsal will resume on Jan. 9. The CWF meets at 10 a.m. Jan. 8. The church is a collection site for Edge Outreach Shoes for Water. Donations of new, and used shoes to Edge Outreach create clean drinking water for people in need. Shoes of all types are acceptable – from flip-flops to high heels, from boots to football cleats. FCC is also collecting used hearing aid batteries, coupons – current or expired, cancelled postage stamps, pop tops from aluminum cans and current magazines for mission projects. Kroger gift cards may be purchased from the church. Each time a card is purchased or reloaded, the church earns 4 percent. Contact the church office for more information. The prayer chapel is open during normal office hours at 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday for anyone seeking a quiet place to pray. Two worship services are held each Sunday at 9 a.m. and 11 in the sanctuary. Sunday school begins at 9:45 a.m., and there are classes available for all ages. A nursery is available during Sunday school and the 11 a.m. worship service. The church is located at 1000 Eminence Pike.

First Presbyterian

The Bellewood Fifth Sunday offering will be collected Sunday. Bellewood Home for Children provides care services to abused, neglected and homeless youth and families across Kentucky. Boy Scouts meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Women's evening Bible study group meets at 6 p.m. on Thursday. The Mitten Tree is ready to accept more donations of hats, mittens, scarves, socks, etc. These will be distributed to the schools and those in need all winter.

Simpsonville Christian

The church will host an open house from 2 p.m. to 4:30 Sunday to honor Rev. Jim Robinson, who is retiring. Robinson served as minister from 2001 through 2012. A day of recognition starts at morning worship and continues throughout the afternoon and evening. A reception is planned in the Fellowship Hall of the church between the hours of 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. Starting at 4:30 p.m., the traditional “Fifth Sunday service in song” will include music from the adult choir as well as musical selections from others from the community. The last set (from 5:30-6) will be “The Big Band,” a group of local of musicians who have reunited to pay homage to musical mentors Ernie Threlkeld, Susie Saunders and Mel Owen. The New Year will be welcomed in by their musical selections.

Simpsonville United Methodist

Fellowship dinner will be Jan. 6, following worship. Administrative council will meet at 1 p.m. following the meal. United Methodist Men's breakfast is 8:30a.m. Jan. 12. All men of the church are welcome to attend.

St. James Episcopal
