Centenary United Methodist

The fourth Sunday Advent message will be "Jesus' Wish List" from the “Different Kind Of Christmas” series. The regular service schedule will take place on Sunday; however there will be no children's worship service. The Christmas Eve family service will be at 5:30 p.m. Monday. The candlelight service will be at 11 p.m. The church office will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, and Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. The junior high ski trip to Perfect North Slopes is scheduled for Jan. 5. This includes grades 6-8.

Clay Street Missionary Baptist

The church’s Little Reunion Celebration of the past members of the Clay Street Little Angels will be Sunday. The church is located at 1940 Midland Trail in Shelbyville.

Clayvillage Baptist

A special candlelight and communion service will be at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. All Wednesday evening services are cancelled. "Company coming" meals will be delivered on Thursday. We wish everyone a most blessed and merry Christmas.

Cropper Baptist

No evening services are scheduled for Sunday. The annual “Gospel Music Extravaganza” is planned for 6 p.m. Dec. 30; tickets are $10 per person and are available from David Martin or at the door. The church pantry needs donations of food items to assist families in need. The church is a registered Red Cross emergency relief shelter and is open to the community in times of need.

Dover Baptist

There will be services Sunday with Sunday school starting at 9:50 a.m. followed by a special Christmas service with special music at 11 a.m. and Rev. Marshall Phillips’ preaching God's word. A candlelight service will be at 6 p.m. Sunday. The church is still accepting donations to help two needy families for Christmas.

Elmburg Baptist

The adult Christmas program will be presented on Sunday during the morning worship service. There will be a children's program on Sunday nights starting in January.The church is located at 11307 Elmburg Road.

Father’s Love is an urban ministry of Living Waters Church and is located at 624 Henry Clay Street.

Finchville Baptist

The Java Shop is open to begin raising money for various mission activities. December’s sales will be donated to the Lottie Moon Mission Offering to support missionaries on foreign fields. Coffee time will be 9:30-9:50 a.m. The Guatemala trip is quickly approaching. The approximate cost is $1,250. Departure will be July 1, and the return flight will be July 7. There will only be one service on Dec. 30, at 11 a.m.

First Baptist Shelbyville

Rev. Bob Hill will lead Sunday at both services, 8:30 and 11 a.m. Bible study is at 9:45 a.m. Deacon members will assist with communion at Crestview, Crescent Place, Amber Oaks and Hometown Manor. The Ralph Morrises will lead the Hometown Manor services. Geoffrey McGillen, minister to senior adults, leads the services at the other three facilities. Geoffrey and Mary McGillen, along with violist Paul Howard Abbott, will present a program in honor Howard Abbott's 89th birthday at 4 p.m. Dec. 30 at the Masonic Home chapel. It is open to the public. Abbott is principal (first chair) player with the Mexico National Orchestra, based in Mexico City. He studied with the former concertmaster of the Louisville Orchestra, the late Paul Kling, and now tours with his own ensemble and the national orchestra. First Christian

The children's Christmas play, The Little Star, will be presented during the worship service at 11 a.m. on Sunday. The Christmas Eve candlelight communion service is at 11 p.m. The community is welcome to attend the service of carols and scripture readings. There will be a congregational meeting following the 11 a.m. worship service Dec. 30. Choir rehearsal has been cancelled for the next few weeks. Rehearsals will resume Jan. 9. The CWF meets at 10 a.m. Jan. 8. The church is a collection site for Edge Outreach Shoes for Water. Donations of new, and used shoes to Edge Outreach create clean drinking water for people in need. Shoes of all types are acceptable – from flip-flops to high heels, from boots to football cleats. FCC is also collecting used hearing aid batteries, coupons – current or expired, cancelled postage stamps, pop tops from aluminum cans and current magazines for mission projects. The prayer chapel is open during normal office hours at 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday for anyone seeking a quiet place to pray. Two worship services are held each Sunday at 9 a.m. and 11 in the sanctuary. Sunday school begins at 9:45 a.m., and there are classes available for all ages. A nursery is available during Sunday school and the 11 a.m. worship service. The church is located at 1000 Eminence Pike.

First Presbyterian

The Christmas joy offering will be collected during Sunday morning's worship. Good Grief will gather for lunch following worship. Check with Barbara Troyer or Norma Beasey for the location. Sign up to ring the bell for the Salvation Army from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve at both doors of Walmart. A sign-up sheet is posted in the Fellowship Hall, or those interested can speak to Gary Steinhilber. There are three slots left. There will be two Christmas Eve services, at 5:30 p.m. for the family friendly service and 11 p.m. communion. Both are services of lessons and carols with a candlelight liturgy at the end of each service. The Mitten Tree has been emptied and is ready to accept new donations of hats, mittens, scarves, socks, etc. These will be distributed to the schools and those in need all winter.

Simpsonville Christian

The church will host an open house from 2 p.m. to 4:30 Dec. 30 to honor Rev. Jim Robinson, who is retiring. Robinson served as minister from 2001 through 2012. A day of recognition starts at morning worship and continues throughout the afternoon and evening. A reception is planned in the Fellowship Hall of the church between the hours of 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. Starting at 4:30 p.m., the traditional “Fifth Sunday - service in song” will include Christmas music from the Adult Choir as well as musical selections from others from our community. The last set (from 5:30-6) will be “The Big Band,” a group of local of musicians who have reunited to pay homage to musical mentors Ernie Threlkeld, Susie Saunders and Mel Owen. The New Year will be welcomed in by their musical selections.
