Centenary United Methodist
The August sermons will be from the “Life Together " series. The topic for Sunday is "Inspiring Each Other to Holiness." The Harriet Poynter/Lucille Smith Circle will have its annual picnic at the home of one of the members, rain or shine, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Bring a favorite covered dish. There will be no Wednesday evening programming this week, but it will resume on Aug. 21. More information will be forthcoming about the Bible study program. LACE, training individuals to become leaders in the church, will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Lawrenceburg Methodist Church. The cost is $10 per session, and childcare is available. First Christian
The church is a collection site for Edge Outreach Shoes for Water. Donations of new and used shoes to Edge Outreach create clean drinking water for people in need. Shoes of all types are acceptable – from flip-flops to high heels, from boots to football cleats. FCC also is collecting used hearing-aid batteries, box tops, Campbell’s labels, eyeglasses, plastic bags (Kroger, Walmart, etc.), coupons (current or expired), canceled postage stamps, pop tops from aluminum cans and current magazines for mission projects. Kroger gift cards may be purchased from the church. Each time a card is purchased or reloaded, the church earns 4 percent. Contact the church office for more information. First Presbyterian
A group of 10 will be leaving after school on Friday to do mission work with Westminster Home Connection in Nashville, Tenn. Next Sunday is Love Sunday.
