Beechridge Baptist
The church will celebrate its 200th anniversary during the week of Oct. 7. Officials are in the planning stages but would like for the community to mark their calendars for that week and plan to attend. Watch for updates.

Burks Branch Baptist

Centenary United Methodist

Cropper Baptist
Church Revival continues 7 p.m. tonight through Sunday morning. Pastor Lee Bean, director of Open Door of Hope men’s shelter, is the guest evangelist, and Randy Spurgeon will lead music worship. Saturday night is “Bring a Dessert Night.” A fellowship meal will be provided following Sunday morning worship; no evening service on Sunday. Deacons meet at 4 p.m. Aug. 12; business meeting at 6 p.m. The church pantry needs donations of food items to assist families in need. The church is a registered Red Cross emergency relief shelter and is open to the community in times of need.

The church ‘s 200th anniversary celebration begins at 10 a.m. Sunday, with lunch immediately following. There will be special music and special memories. Side dishes are welcome for the meal. Father's Love

Finchville Baptist
The women’s Bible study, going through the book of James, is taking place at 6-8 p.m. every Monday. Meet in the fellowship hall and then proceed to the Adult 1 classroom. First Baptist Shelbyville
SBC/KBC conference on Calvinism and the 21st century church will be Saturday morning at Crestwood Baptist Church. The cost is $45, which includes lunch. The conference is from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Rev. Steve Rice continues his sermon series on “Thirst” at both 8:30 and 11 a.m. services. This Sunday is also communion at both services. Sunday school hour is 9:45 a.m. This Sunday is promotion Sunday for children and student ministries. Student ministries sponsors the Mudbowl, an opportunity to be really dirty, slimy and messy following the first day of school. Young at Heart meets at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cattlemen’s, then devotional is at the Senior Adult Citizen's Center at 2 p.m. FBC has 20 tickets for the National Gospel Quartet Convention on Sept. 14 at Freedom Hall. Britton often has appeared in Shelbyville with professional string programs, the last being when she was part of the same ensemble. She now resides in Lexington, teaching at the Lexington Music Academy. Mary McGillen is the orchestra teacher at both high schools and begins her 10th year with the school district. Geoffrey McGillen is the minister to senior adults at FBC Shelbyville.

First Christian
Donations for "Van for Glenn" may be made at the church. Make checks payable to FCC and note Van for Glenn on the memo line. The church is a collection site for Edge Outreach Shoes for Water. Donations of new and used shoes to Edge Outreach create clean drinking water for people in need. Shoes of all types are acceptable – from flip-flops to high heels, from boots to football cleats. The prayer chapel is open during normal office hours at 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday for anyone seeking a quiet place to pray. The early service begins at 9 a.m. in the chapel, and the 11 a.m. service is in the sanctuary. Sunday school begins at 9:45 a.m., and there are classes available for all ages. First Presbyterian
Knit-Wits meets at 10 a.m. Saturday. The Country Mouse is open every Sunday morning. Place your extra garden produce, jams, jellies, flowers, etc., on the counter between the Fellowship Hall and kitchen, then take something you don't have. Donations are accepted but not required. This is an opportunity for those who have raised an abundance of produce to share with those who can't have a garden. We will observe the sacrament of Holy Communion on Sunday. Anyone wishing to receive communion and unable to attend the morning service may contact the church office at 633-2693. Good Grief will gather for lunch at 12:15 p.m. Sunday at Wendy's Restaurant. Session meets at 7 p.m. Monday. Boy Scouts meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Adult choir rehearsal starts at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday. August is "open choir" month. Anyone wishing to sing with the adult choir may join in on Sunday mornings at 10:15 a.m. The "Changing the World Two by Two" campaign runs all of 2012. The goal is to raise $5,000 for Heifer Project International, and well more than half has been raised.

Graefenburg Baptist
School supplies will be given to K-6 students at 4-6 p.m. Sunday. The back-to-school giveaway will be followed by a free pizza party at 5:30 p.m. ,and the monthly performance of “Hosanna House” is at 6 p.m.  “Hosanna House” is a children’s ministry that uses skits and songs to illustrate Biblical virtues. This Sunday the Lord's Supper will be observed. A deacon ordination will be at 6 p.m. Sunday. A church-wide yard sale will be Aug. 10–11. Bring items to the fellowship hall. All items not sold will be sent on the Mountain Mission Truck on Monday. They have a desperate need for any and all men’s clothing but appreciate all donations. Wednesday Bible study will resume Wednesday.

The collection of clothing, all sizes, continues. Members with gardens are asked to bring excess produce for the free food table. St. James provides for those in need.
