Burks Branch Baptist

Regular services on Sunday will begin with Sunday school at 9:50 a.m. followed by morning worship service at 11. Regular Wednesday services begin at 6:30 p.m. with JAM-Jesus and Me for kids and prayer meeting for adults. Choir practice follows at 7 p.m. On the last Wednesday of every month the choir holds a singing service for the residents and guests of the Masonic Home in the chapel. The Women on Mission are still collecting school supplies to donate to the local schools. They are also collecting items for the backpack food ministry for children. All food items must be non-perishable, easy for a child to open containers, no glass, no refrigeration needed, though they can be non-heated items or microwaveable. The food should be as nutritious as possible. It must be single serving size and small enough to fit into a backpack with several other items. Some suggestions are: canned meats with pop tops such as Vienna Sausages, tuna, Beenie Weenies; juice boxes, milk boxes, small boxed cereal, fruit cups, chips, cheese or peanut butter crackers, peanuts, etc. The Women on Mission will meet at 7 p.m. on Sept. 4 at Martha's house. The choir and congregation are invited to attend the Fifth Sunday Singing and Fellowship at Dover Baptist Church on Sunday. Centenary United Methodist

The message for Sunday will be chosen from 1 Samuel 17: 1-10, titled "Slaying our Goliaths." New sermon series, "Are We On Board or Just Bored?" will begin on Sept. 7. The church is a collection site for WaterStep. Donations of new and used shoes create clean drinking water for people in need. Shoes of all types are acceptable – from flip-flops to high heels, from boots to football cleats. FCC also is collecting used hearing-aid batteries, box tops, Campbell’s labels, eyeglasses, plastic bags from Kroger, Walmart, etc., coupons either current or expired, canceled postage stamps, pop tops from aluminum cans for mission projects. Kroger gift cards may be purchased from the church. Each time a card is purchased or reloaded, the church earns 4 percent. The cards make excellent gifts. Arriba Ninostutoring program has been suspended for the fall semester due to a lack of volunteer tutors.
