The church is a collection site for WaterStep. Donations of new and used shoes create clean drinking water for people in need. Shoes of all types are acceptable – from flip-flops to high heels, from boots to football cleats. FCC also is collecting used hearing-aid batteries, box tops, Campbell’s labels, eyeglasses, plastic bags from Kroger, Walmart, etc., coupons either current or expired, canceled postage stamps, pop tops from aluminum cans for mission projects. Kroger gift cards may be purchased from the church. Each time a card is purchased or reloaded, the church earns 4 percent. The cards make excellent gifts. Arriba Ninos Tutoring is scheduled for a 6-week session for Sept. 8 thru Oct. 13. It’s that time of year again when the garden produce is coming in faster than we can put it up! Bring in those extra goodies and leave them on the kitchen counter for others to share. Then take something you don’t have and leave a donation if you can. All monies collected will be used to help the less fortunate in Shelby County. Do you have musical instruments that need a good home? Did you know that you could donate those instruments to the Shelby County School System through a Partners In Education Program at First Presbyterian Church and help students who otherwise couldn’t afford to be in band or orchestra? If you have an instrument to donate, contact First Presbyterian at 633-2693. More than 50 instruments have been given since the program started in 2003. All donations are tax deductible.
