The Haiti Mission Team returned safely from its mission trip. Keep posted for an evening of pictures, testimonies and a Haitian meal as the team plans and organizes an evening of sharing. Continue to use Kroger gift cards, which will benefit the mission fund. The Baptist Women are collecting school supplies to donate to the local schools. There will be a donation box at the church. Back-to-School Sunday will be during the worship service at 11 a.m. on Sunday recognizing all those in attendance who are students, teachers and all who serve in education. Centenary United Methodist
The Ramp Team will gather at 9 a.m. Saturday to construct a wheelchair ramp for a lady who has reached 102 years of age. Cutting and preparing materials for the ramp frame will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday. The Harriet Poynter/Lucille Smith Circle will gather for a service day at 10 a.m. Saturday in the church's fellowship hall to assemble backpacks for UMCOR. Donated items can be placed in the church office or the tote bag near the elevator. Sunday school promotion day will follow the contemporary service on Sunday. Blessing of backpacks will take place. Students, preschool through college, are asked to bring their backpacks for participation. The Upper Room Prayer group meets from 8 to 10 p.m. Tuesday at the church to take calls for spiritual assistance. Children's Ministries will host the end-of-year party beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. CYF will also meet at 6:30 p.m. Items for the Mountain Mission pickup on Aug. 12 need to be placed on the third floor near the Seekers Sunday school classroom.

The church is a collection site for Edge Outreach Shoes for Water. Donations of new and used shoes to Edge Outreach create clean drinking water for people in need. Shoes of all types are acceptable – from flip-flops to high heels, from boots to football cleats. FCC is also collecting used hearing-aid batteries, box tops, Campbell’s labels, eyeglasses, plastic bags (Kroger, Walmart, etc.), coupons – current or expired, canceled postage stamps, pop tops from aluminum cans and current magazines for mission projects. Kroger gift cards may be purchased from the church. Each time a card is purchased or reloaded, the church earns 4 percent. Contact the church office for more information. First Presbyterian
The Covenant Group is collecting old blankets and towels for the Animal Shelter. Used or new tennis balls are being collected for Heritage Elementary. Place all items in the designated container in the Assembly Room. Lascito Coro (Legacy Choir) will perform in the sanctuary on Sunday. Donations will be accepted to benefit the Louisville Youth Choir's “No Song Unsung” scholarship initiative. A churchwide mission trip to Nashville is planned for Aug. 9-11.
