Bagdad Baptist

Centenary Methodist
CYF travels to Louisville Friday and Saturday for Winter Blitz. Quilters will Sew For Babies at 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. Upper Room Prayer group will meet 8-10 p.m. Tuesday. The church will sponsor a Sock It To Me sock collection for distribution to local centers. All types of socks are welcome to be brought to the church on Feb. 16.

Christiansburg Baptist
The Fifth Sunday Joint Worship service is 6 p.m. Sunday at Elmburg Baptist Church. Jim Cavender will be the speaker.

Cropper Baptist
Rev.  Jim Cavender will lead worship during Fifth Sunday evening service at Elmburg Baptist, 6 p.m. WMU will meet on Wednesday  at Tammy Shaw’s home, Those wishing to participate may bring a $5 Valentine gift for exchange.  A youth trip to Louisville is planned for Friday. Contact Shannon Osten for details. The church council meets at 6:45 p.m. Feb. 6. Volunteers are needed to staff the nursery. Contact Carrie B. Trotta to schedule. The church food pantry needs donations to restock canned meats, crackers, hot and cold cereals, pasta and baked beans.  The pantry provides food items to families in the community who need help; contact the church if assistance is needed.

First Baptist Shelbyville
Upward Bound basketball will be 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturday in the church’s Family Life Center. For information, call 633-1317.

First Christian
The CWF continues to collect prescription bottles (with the labels removed) and hearing aid batteries for recycling.

First Presbyterian
On Sunday, we will receive a special offering for Bellewood Presbyterian Homes for Children, which provides daily opportunities for new beginnings in the lives of abused and at-risk children. Presbyterian Women's morning circle will meet Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Bible study led by Rev.  Jay Hodge.  Cub Scouts meet Tuesday, 6:30 p.m.  The adult choir will practice at 7:15 p.m., Wednesday.  Boy Scouts meet Thursday at 7 p.m.  Knit-Wits will meet at 10 a.m. Feb. 5. The church continues to collect  mittens, gloves, hats, scarves, etc., for children in Shelby County.  Teachers are encouraged to take items, as they have students in need.  We also continue to ask for donations of used musical instruments, which are repaired, if needed, and given to the local schools for students who want to participate in the band or orchestra, but cannot afford to rent or purchase an instrument.

Highland Baptist
The WMU is collecting large cans of food items for Victory Baptist Church. New short-term Bible studies begin Sunday night - a parent privilege, life’s toughest questions and influencing like Jesus.

Open Door Christian Center
David and Rebecca Hill will be ministering on Sunday for the morning and evening services. They lead a ministry called Urban Outreach in Cincinnati. The church is located at 2345 Taylorsville Road in Bloomfield. For more information, call 502-252-9154.

Salem Baptist
The church will celebrate the 200th anniversary throughout the year. A past staff member will be visiting the church on one Sunday each month, and a meal will follow. Bro. Bill George will be the guest on Sunday. Rev. George has been Salem’s interim pastor several times throughout the years. A potluck lunch will follow in Fellowship Hall.

Shelby Congregational Methodist
The church will have a gospel concert in honor of Justin Barnes, who will be celebrating four years in the ministry, a 5 p.m. Saturday.

Simpsonville Christian
A special worship celebration on will be held this fifth Sunday at 4:30 p.m.-6 p.m. in the sanctuary. There will be group and individual singing.

Simpsonville Methodist
Fellowship Dinner is Feb. 6 following worship service. Hartz to Hearts Quilters meet on Fridays at 10 a.m. For information, call church office (722-8962).
