CHS senior receives KACo award

The Kentucky Association of Counties will award a $2,000 scholarship to an outstanding 2014 graduating senior from Collins High School, Aaron Sturgill. This is the third time that the Kentucky Association of Counties has awarded the Pat Hillard Memorial Scholarship. Pat Hillard was a KACo employee for 21 years and a true friend to the counties. Pat passed away in December 2003, and the scholarship was founded in her honor. Sturgill will attend Western Kentucky University in the fall, where he plans to study graphic arts. He has a 3.23 GPA and was a member of the school’s art club. He is active in his church and community and a member of Shelby Christian Church and is involved in its outreach activities. Sturgill is the son of Mary and Tim Sturgill of Shelbyville. Tim Sturgill is the General Counsel at KACo.
