A toddler was found wandering in the middle of Mount Eden Road early Friday morning.
The child, approximately 2-3 years old, was walking in the middle of the roadway on the bridge next to the I-64 ramps around 3 a.m., according to Chevron employees.
A truck driver traveling down the road saw the toddler and stopped his truck in the middle of the road, in order to block traffic to keep the child from being struck a car, said Lori Witt, an employee at the nearby Chevron Station.
The truck driver brought the child into the station and called police.
Although the Shelby County Sheriff's Office worked the incident, their reports have not yet been filed.
The Shelbyville Police said that the child lives on MacBrae Lane, which is off Mount Eden Road.
The condition of the child is not known, but Witt said that night shift employees at the station said he seemed to be all right.
