Model. Webmaster. Dentist. Attorney. Counselor. UPS. Salesman. These careers and more were introduced to students at Southside Elementary as part of its Career Day. Superintendent James Neihof told the assembly, “Dream big and work hard to make those dreams come true.” To help make his points about the steps to being ready for college and a career, Neihof (center) used fourth-grader Justin Blackburn (left) and kindergartner Mollie Theirbach to climb the steps on the bleachers... all 13 of them. “Could you skip any of those steps?” he asked, to which the children said they could not because it would be hard. He said the same was true for school; students must climb from kindergarten to seniors to be ready for college and career.
