Cardinal Club gets OK to sell alcohol on course

-A A +A
By Lisa King

You now can have a beer to drown your sorrows after a bad shot on the Cardinal Club’s golf course.

A special election held Tuesday in Simpsonville approved the Cardinal Club to sell alcoholic beverages on its course.

The vote was 58 in favor and 7 against, Shelby County Clerk Sue Carole Perry said. Only residents of the precinct that includes the club were allowed to vote.

“It passed by an overwhelming margin,” Perry said.

The club already has a liquor license, but that sale was restricted to inside its clubhouse.
