Smith on UK dean’s list
Tanner Jacob Smith has been named to the dean’s list at the University of Kentucky for the Fall 2011 semester. To be selected for this honor, a student must compile an academic standing of 3.8 or better out of a possible 4.0 for the semester. He was also awarded the presidential scholarship for four years. His major is architecture. Smith graduated from Collins High School in 2011 and is the son of Bryan and Mary Hayes Smith of Simpsonville. His grandparents are Jake and Carol Lou Smith, Ann C. Hayes and Mickey Hayes.
Shelbyville student makes dean's list
Kelly Morgan Hill of Shelbyville was named to the Miami University dean's list. Miami University students who achieved a 3.5 or better grade-point average for first semester 2011-2012 have been named to the dean's list recognizing academic performance.
Shannon on mission trip to New York
Rachel Shannon, a junior of Shelbyville, will travel to New York City for a mission trip during Campbellsville University's spring break. The team will work in homeless shelters, help in small construction work jobs and spend time in prayer walks and other relational ministry. The team also will teach English as a second language.
Shelby students accepted to Union
Several Shelby County students have been accepted to attend Union College in the fall semester of 2012. They are Duncan Pope of Simpsonville; Charity Wilms of Shelbyville; Joseph Fawns of Shelbyville; Isaac Shaull of Shelbyville. Union is located in Barbourville and is a 4-year liberal arts school related to the United Methodist Church.
