Brandon Brown failed to make the cut at the U.S. Open.
The professional golfer from Shelbyville shot a 12-over-par 152 in the first two rounds of the tournament being held at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Penn.
Brown, making his first appearance in one of golf’s four “majors,” missed the cut for the final two rounds by four shots.
Brown carded a 5-over-par 75 in his first round, which began late Thursday (after rain pushed his original tee time back 3 ½ hours) and continued Friday morning. Then Brown shot a 77 in his second round, which began shortly after his first round ended.
Phil Mickelson, a 5-time Open runner-up, and unknown Billy Horschel were tied for the lead after the first two rounds with 1-under-par 139s.
