Former SCHS and Eastern Kentucky University standout golfer Brandon Brown played in his first Nationwide Tour event during the weekend.

In front of 46,000 fans at the BMW Charity Pro-Am in Greenville, S.C., Brown, who normally plays on the Hooters Tour, shot 69-71—140 to make the cut. On Saturday and Sunday, he improved his scores to 68 and 69 and finished at 9-under-par and tied for 44th. He earned $2,630.

Michael Sim shot 22-under to earn his second victory of the season on the Nationwide Tour.

By making the final round during PGA Tour Qualifying School last year, Brown earned exemptions for a few Nationwide events this year.

Brown currently ranks 81st on the Hooters Tour, where he has played five events. He has made the cut twice, with his best finish being a tie for 18th at the Amelia Island Plantation NGA Classic. Brown’s best finish last year was second, and he won a tour stop in 2007.

This week Brown is scheduled to play in Booneville, Ind., near Evansville.

Next week he  will be very close to home, playing in the ADI Classic at Cherry Blossom Country Club in Georgetown, Ky. This 72-hole tournament gets under way at 7:30 a.m. Thursday and finishes Sunday.
