About 100 family and friends gathered Saturday in the Simpsonville Community Center gymnasium to honor the 100th birthday of Wilma "Granny" Gordon, who has lived in Todds Point since 1936. She is known by many for her having worked at the Gleneyrie School cafeteria, the Todds Point Store and many years as a polling officer. She is the oldest member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Gordon wore a crown and sat on the throne – here flanked by her hairdresser, Teresa Adcock, and neighbor Kathy Jones – and was presented with 100 roses from her family. She took time to pose with her extended family – she was widowed several years ago and her only daughter has passed away – which is made up of four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Gordon also was a prolific quilter who gave away most of her creations to family and charity. The family's favorites were on display.
