A grand opening will be held this Sunday for the Birch House in Clear Creek Park.
This two-story building is the former home of Dr. A.L. Birch and is now available use of the public.
Clay Cottongim, the park’s director, said the newly renovated historic building is “perfect for wedding receptions, adult's birthday parties, Christmas gatherings and other holiday functions.”
An open house will be held Sunday Nov. 2 from 1-3 p.m. to allow the public to come see the inside of the building. Light refreshments will be served.
The current rates for the house are $400 for the entire day and $55 per hour.
The park has been working the house on since last winter. Staff workers have redone the floors and installed heating and air, he said.
A.L Birch donated 30 acres of the 130 acres the park acquired for the park.
Birch, who owned the Arkansas Derby racehorse Timely Tip, had the horse barned behind the building.
W.J. Andriot's donated the paint for the house.
The park is currently looking for donations of old antiques and other furniture to go into the house.
The house is wheel-chair accessible as well. Reservation can be made at 633-5059.
