Big military paydays

Two SCHS seniors took home more than just scholarships at Tuesday’s Senior Awards Night.

William Thompson and Stephen Young not only got their education paid for, but both also got a jump-start on their careers.

Thompson and Young earned Marine Corps and Air Force ROTC scholarships, both of which come with money for school, uniforms, books and monthly stipends, totaling about $150,000 each.

To qualify for the scholarships, both had to take test, be interviewed and pass a fitness test, and commit to the service branch for four years after college.
