Bagdad Baptist youth go down memory lane
The Bagdad Baptist Youth will host a dinner theater variety show, Memory Lane, on Friday. Take a walk back in time as this show will feature popular music and musical characters from the past.
Musical selections include “I Heard It thru the Grapevine,” “Leader of the Pack,” “Gitarzan,” “Mississippi Squirrel,” “9 to 5,” and will include many more surprises.
The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a dinner of roasted pork or ham, baked beans, mac-n-cheese, broccoli casserole, slaw, homemade desserts and more.
There also will be the side-splitting variety show will follow dinner.
Tickets in advance are $15, $20 at the door (children ages 3-12 are half price; those 2 and under are free). For more information and tickets, contact the church 502-747-8933.
Downton Abbey-era show
Downton Abbey Era: Titanic to the Twentieswill be at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Shelby County Public Library. “Regency High Tea” will begin at 6 p.m. sharp, and the Lexington Vintage Dancers will be at 6:30 p.m. Downstairs the servants practice the Grizzly Bear and the Foxtrot.
Upstairs Lady Violet accepts an invitation to waltz. Learn about how the era was reflected in the social dances of the time. (No one will be admitted after dancers begin to perform.)
Registration is required for adults 18 years and older, with a limit of 60. No group registration, children or cameras. Come in period costume if you wish.

‘An Evening of Culture’ at theater
Performance dates for Shelby County Community Theatre’s production of An Evening of Culture (Faith County II), written by Mark Landon Smith and directed by Donnie Hagy, will be May 31 through June 2 and June 7-9. Cambo the clown at library
Cambo the Clown, a professional clown, will visit the Shelby County Public Library at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on June 19. He will have magic tricks, juggling, laughing and balloon animals. For more information, contact 633-3803.
Production of ‘South Pacific’
Shelby County Community Theatre will have its production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific on July 19-21 and 26-28. The play is directed by Cyndi Powell Skellie. The theater is located at 801 Main Street in Shelbyville. For more information, call 502-633-0222.
