Tickets going on sale

for comedy ‘Nunsense’


Tickets go on sale next Friday for Shelby County Community Theatre's upcoming production of Nunsense, a musical comedy by Dan Goggin. The show is directed by Mike Seely.

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 14, 15, 21 and 22 and at 2 p.m. Feb 16 and 23.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $10 for students. For reservations, call 502-633-0242.

Auditions for new comedy

Shelby County Community Theatre has scheduled auditions for John Cariani’s romantic comedy Almost, Maine, to be directed by Larry Chaney as part of the Upstairs at 801 Series.

Auditions will be at the theater at 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday. Parts are available for four women and four men ages 21 and older. The audition will consist of cold readings from the script.

Performance dates are March 21-23.

Christian music show tonight

One of the most popular Christian music tours, the Winter Jam Tour Spectacular, brings 10 artists to Freedom Hall tonight. Doors open at 6 p.m. for the general public, and concerts start at 7 p.m.
Performing are Newsboys, Lecrae, Tenth Avenue North, Thousand Foot Crutch, Plumb, NewSong, Colton Dixon, Love and the Outcome, Everfound and Derek Minor.  
Nick Hall, the founder of PULSE, a Twin Cities, Minnesota-based ministry, will be the main speaker for the event.

Tickets are $10 and are available at the door the day of the event. Only cash and checks will be accepted for admission. Parking at the Kentucky Exposition Center is $8 per vehicle.


Artists seeking grants applicants

Shelby Artists on Main, Inc. (a 501 c(3) non-profit organization) is accepting applications by artists for grant-funded workshops to take place throughout 2014. The second round of grant applications will be received through Feb. 15.

Library story hours

Story hours at the Shelby County Public Library, 309 8th St., will be at 10 a.m. for 2-to-3-year-olds and 11 a.m. for 4-to-5-year-olds on Tuesdays; 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for 2-to-5-year-olds on Wednesdays; 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. for “Baby Time,” birth to 2-year-olds, on Thursdays.
