Tickets on sale for
‘Mulan Jr.’ at SCCT

Mulan Jr. opens Friday night at Shelby County Community Theatre, and a seventh performance has been added.
Tickets went on sale last week for this Disney musical, directed by Cyndi Powell Skellie, which features more than 50 actors between the ages of 7 and 14.
Because of demand a show was added for 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 22.
Shows now will be Sept. 16, 17, 22, 23, 24 at 7:30 p.m. and Sept. 18 and 25 at 2:30 p.m.

Author featured at the library
Robert Hicks, author of The Widow of the South, will be the guest author at two One Book, One Community events Oct. 13 at the Shelby County Library. He will speak at a luncheon, at 1-2 p.m. Cost is $30, and a copy of A Separate Country is included for each participant. Registration is required, with a limit of 50 seats. A check or cash is due upon registration. Hicks also will sign copies of his book at 6-7 p.m. Registration is required for seating purposes only. Civil war ghost stories program
Thomas Freese and Brian Bush are back with more hair-raising storytelling of Civil War ghost stories at 6-7 p.m. Oct. 27 on the front lawn of the Shelby County Library, 309 8th Street.
First person accounts of ghosts encountered on the battlefields of the civil war, plus battlefield backgrounds and history will be presented.
