A Monday night barn fire that destroyed 9,000 pounds of a Shelby County family's tobacco crop is most likely the result of arson according to fire investigators.
Shelby County Fire Chief Bobby Cowherd said the fire has been determined to be suspicious in nature and the state Fire Marshal's office and Shelby County Sheriff's Office has been called in to investigate.
The barn belonging to the Paul Case family is located on 1271 Ellis Road near Eminence off Ky. 55 where a number of suspicious smaller fires have occurred in the past few months, Cowherd said.
