Gentry visits Jennie C. Benedict Circle

By Sharon Warner

National Guard Chief Warren Officer 2 Bruce Gentry visited the Jennie C. Benedict Circle during its January meeting. With Gentry (back row, left) are Susan Thompson and Maria Newill, president of the Jennie C. Benedict Circle; and (front row) his mother, Paula Gentry, and Anne Eyle. As part of the HHD 149th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade from Shelbyville, Gentry, a sergeant in the Shelbyville Police Department, was deployed to Iraq on June 1, 2010. He was stationed at Victory Base Complex in Baghdad, Iraq, with force protection as the threat and vulnerability assessment officer. The Jennie C. Benedict Circle and the Reunion Circle collected items for soldiers to help make their life a little more comfortable while battling war, homesickness and sand. Gentry expressed the appreciation of the soldiers who benefited from these gifts.
