The Shelby County Fiscal Court approved a long awaited first reading on an amended ordinance relating to the reapportionment of magisterial voting districts at its meeting Tuesday night.
Voting districts had to be redrawn after new magisterial district boundaries were put in place in 2012, a process that occurs every 10 years and which took place after the 2010 census. The ordinance had been put in place early in 2012, but had to be amended before the process of redefining voting precincts could begin.
