Katie Maddox, a freshman at Collins High School, attended the Ag-Discovery program at Kentucky State University on June. 20. Students nationwide were accepted into the two-week program, which is a residential program for students who are interested in careers in animal science and veterinary medicine for. Students between the ages of 14-17 worked with practicing veterinarians and other scientists to learn the daily involvement with a range of animals. Among other cutting-edge and cultural enrichment activities, students had an opportunity to witness a real surgery.
