9 preteens compete at Shelby County Fair

The Miss Shelby County Pre-Teen contest is at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Shelby County Fairgrounds.

A contestant must be 8 years old by June 30 and not have reached her 13th birthday by Oct. 31. Five finalists will be chosen, from which a winner and first runner-up will be chosen from the standpoint of beauty, poise and personality.

The winner will receive $100 cash and a plaque. The runner-up also will receive a plaque. The winner will participate in several activities, including the Miss Pre-Teen Kentucky Fair Pageant.

The participants are:

Sarah Dutton is the daughter of Gilmore and Donna Dutton. She will attend St. Patrick’s in the fall. She enjoys ice skating, cheerleading, playing with her American Girl dolls and spending time with family and friends.

Jillian Jacobs is the daughter of Patrick and Lane Jacobs. She will attend Capital Day School in the fall. She enjoys cross-county running, archery, golf, dancing, reading, art, and drama. She participates in 4-H, Girl Scouts, Governor’s Cup academic team and was selected for the Duke University Talent Identification Program. She received a blue ribbon and other awards for her self-portrait painting during the 2011 Kentucky State Fair. She loves spending time with her friends, playing with her pets and fishing on her grandpapa’s farm.

Taryn Markle is the daughter of Janna and Rick Markle. She will attend East Middle in the fall. She enjoys climbing trees, crafts, sewing, singing, drama and roller skating. She’s looking forward to learning to play the violin next school year and being in the school play.

Alexia Perry is the daughter of Michael and Kelly Perry. She will attend East Middle in the fall. She enjoys cheerleading, gymnastics, riding 4 wheelers, and playing with her cousins on the farm.

Davis Sydney Skinner is the daughter of Jennifer and David Stenger and Sam and Stephanie Skinner. She will attend Painted Stone Elementary in the fall. She enjoys playing softball and volleyball, playing with her niece, singing, reading and making new friends.

Baylee Stenger is the daughter of James and Sara Stenger. She will attend Clear Creek Elementary in the fall. She enjoys swimming and tumbling. She loves to play outside and spend time with friends and family. She cheers at GymTyme All-Stars.

Caitlyn Stivers is the daughter of Millie and Ivan Cunningham and the late Larry Stivers. She will attend Heritage Elementary in the fall. She enjoys archery, reading and swimming.

Noelle Thompson is the daughter of Brad and Shari Thompson. She will attend Collins High School in the fall. Noelle is an honor student who plays clarinet in the band. She is on the Collins dance team and enjoys gymnastics, singing, sewing, and jewelry making. She is an active participant in her church youth group at Simpsonville Baptist Church.

Anneli White is the daughter of Kris and Jwain White. She will attend the Christian Academy of Louisville. She enjoys decorating, spending time with family, swimming, drawing, and painting.
