Roger and Aline Davis of Shelbyville were married Aug. 23, 1951, in New Albany, Ind.

They have two sons, Robert, and his wife, Ellazane Davis, and Mike, and his wife, Kim, Davis; one grandson, Justin; step-grandson, Josh Cook and his wife, Amanda; and three step-great grandsons.

They celebrated with a renewal ceremony in the presence of family and friends in the floral garden courtyard setting of Dawson Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center. Rev. Wes Curtis, employee of the center, officiated the ceremony.

Coordinating the event was the activities department directed by Sherry McKnight. Staff members assisted in the preparations.

Music selections included Nadia’s Theme, Through the Eyes of Loveand The Rose. The traditional bridal chorus and recessional were also chosen.

The bride was escorted by her son Mike.

A reception followed in the main dining area of the facility.

Reminiscing was the theme for the day as the Davises shared with friends and facility staff how they met. Roger Davis had been injured in an automobile accident and while at the hospital found a sweet, young nurse named Aline who nurtured him back to health, and their story began.

When asked if he would take her to be his wife again, he stated, “I sure do.”
