60th anniversary: Gene and Betty Moore

Gene and Betty Moore of Louisville will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary this week. They were married on Dec. 14, 1951, at Pleasureville Baptist Church.


During their married life, they have resided in Pleasureville, Anchorage and Louisville.

Gene Moore worked at Belknap Hardware for nine years and MacKay Gravure for 30 years as a photo engraver. After his first retirement, he graduated from Sullivan University's hospitality school and worked with his wife as driver and escort with Toby Tours, traveling across the country. Later he worked at Rental Depot before finally retiring again in recent years.

In addition to taking care of the home and five children, Betty Moore worked as a clerk at Kaufman’s Department Store, as a secretary at Retail Clerks Union, as an administrative assistant with the Arthritis Foundation and as a pharmacy technician with Waldman’s Pharmacy before joining Toby Tours.

They are the parents of Sandi Magers, Patti Davis, Robin Collier, Darrell Moore and the late David Moore; grandparents of Bill Magers, Janet Milner, Jennifer and Katherine Davis and Danielle and Christian Collier; and great-grandparents of Roman and Hadrian Milner and Bristol  Magers.

They will celebrate with a trip to the Galt House Christmas celebration.
