Six people were injured – none believed seriously – in a 4-car pile-up Sunday on Eminence Pike at the intersection with Booker Pike.

All except one have been released from the hospital, and the remaining person is in fair condition.

According to a report from the Kentucky State Police, the accident occurred about 1 p.m. when a 2010 Toyota SUV driven northbound by Susan M. Ellis, 68, of Shelbyville was struck from behind by a 1994 Chevy Bazer driven by Billy J. Carter, 50, of Louisville.

Carter’s Blazer then crossed the center line and struck head-on a 2008 Lincoln MKZ driven by Daryl R. Hayden, 52, of Fisherville.

KSP spokesman Ron Turley said Hayden and his two passengers, Angela Hayden and an 11-year old were taken to UofL and Kosair Children’s Hospital, respectively, and that Carter and Durrett also were taken to UofL.

Ellis was taken to Jewish Hospital Shelbyville, and she was treated and released.

The only person remaining hospitalized is Carter, who is listed in fair condition.

All persons involved were wearing seatbelts.

Turley said the chain-reaction type accident was caused by driver inattention.
