Those chosen are:

•  Zach Brown, the son of David and Belinda Brown, who said he wants to gain “more knowledge about our country’s political system and experience by participating in certain aspects of it.” He wants to major in political science after graduation and become involved in politics in some fashion.

•  Reagan Overby, the son of Stacy Overby and Julie Moore, has been sworn into the Kentucky National Guard as an infantryman. His goal is to become an officer through ROTC while attending the University of Kentucky focusing on a business/finance major.

•  Lauren Wood, the daughter of Sarah Wright and Joey Wood, is a sergeant in the Marine Corps Junior ROTC. She said she hopes to “gain knowledge and a better understanding how our state government is run and to learn the behind-the-scenes political etiquette.” After graduation, she wants to attend the University of Kentucky and major in psychology.

SCHS Talented and Gifted Teacher Kathie Wrightson said the students will be required to keep a weekly blog, create two social media sites and monitor the opinions gathered, follow one bill through its entire journey and develop a presentation for teacher Jeremy Divine’s Advanced Placement Government class.
